How is it calculated?

Electricity in kWh equals power in watts multiplied by hours divided by 1,000. Monthly power consumption includes gaming and separate idle time. If you enter DC component power, wall power may be higher due to PSU losses; a wall meter provides a more accurate result.

Frequently asked questions

Is processor TDP the same as gaming power?

No. Typical gaming power varies considerably by workload.

Does the calculation include PSU losses?

Not automatically. Use measured wall power for best accuracy, or allow for PSU efficiency losses.

Equipment related to this calculation

Practical, non-promotional buying considerations. Future partner recommendations will be clearly disclosed.

PC plug-in energy meter

Wall-power measurement includes PSU losses and can differ from component power estimates.

Energy-efficient monitor

Compare typical operating power rather than only the maximum advertised wattage.

Frequently asked questions

Does an 850 W PSU use 850 W continuously?

No. Actual draw depends on workload and PSU efficiency, not simply the wattage rating.

How can I estimate gaming electricity costs more accurately?

Measure the typical wall power during gaming and enter the average value along with your usage hours.
